Made popular by a number of celebrities, the vampire facelift is a highly aclaimed anti-ageing rejuvenation treatment using platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy- the treatment is known as the “vampire facelift” since it uses a small amount of the patient’s own blood.

Over time a number of complex and profound changes occur in the skin, fat, muscle and bone in the face that contribute to ageing. The vampire facelift is a procedure in which PRP is injected into specific areas in the face, to rejuvenate the areas that are prone to ageing by adding volume and stimulating the cells which produce collagen and bone, to repair and rejuvenate these aged areas.

The pioneering PRP and iPRF technology utilised in the vampire facelift is extremely safe and well researched; using the body’s own growth factors, PRP and iPRF bio-stimulates the synthesis and repair of damaged and ageing tissues including collagen and bone. The research underpinning the PRP technology used in the vampire facelift is Nobel Prize winning and has been used to treat orthopaedic and sports injuries for many years receiving worldwide acclaim and recognition. Now, this same PRP technology is being harnessed for anti-ageing and rejuvenation treatments with stunning results.

The treatment involves taking a small amount of blood (a similar amount to that required for a blood test) and then using specialised equipment and techniques to extract the portion of the blood known as “platelet rich plasma” (PRP) and injectable platelet rich fibrin (iPRF).

This PRP and iPRF has been scientifically proven to be highly concentrated in a number of growth factors and naturally occurring chemicals that are instrumental in cell regeneration and repair. These regenerative and reparative factors include: Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factor (TGF) 1 and 2, Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) and Epithelial Cell Growth Factor (ECGF).

The prepared PRP and iPRF  is then injected in specific parts of the face which have suffered tissue loss, loss of elasticity and loss of integrity and tone as a result of ageing process; the regenerative and reparative growth factors can then stimulate the cells that create collagen and bone to regenerate and repair to help reverse the ageing process.

Although PRP and iPRF therapy is extremely safe (using “autologous” products) all patients undergo a thorough examination and some precautions are required both pre- and post-operatively.
